A watermark protects your video content from being reposted without credit and reinforces your brand every time someone watches your clip. REEL CUTTER lets you add a fully customisable text watermark — no extra software required.
Why Add a Watermark?
If you publish video content online, a watermark gives viewers a clear signal about who made the video. Even if someone screenshots a frame or reposts your clip, your name or brand stays visible. For commercial work, it's also a professional touch that signals quality.
Step 1 — Load Your Video
Open REEL CUTTER and drag your video into the upload area. Once it loads, the editor will appear along with the Watermark section below the timeline.
Step 2 — Enable the Watermark
In the Watermark panel (Step 03), toggle the Enable Watermark switch. The watermark options will expand.
Step 3 — Enter Your Text
Type your watermark text in the text field. This could be your name, brand, website URL, copyright notice, or any short label. Up to 50 characters are supported.
Step 4 — Choose Position
Select where on the video the watermark should appear from the Position dropdown. Options include all four corners, top/bottom centre, and dead centre. Bottom right is the most common choice for subtle branding.
Step 5 — Adjust Font, Size, and Opacity
- Font — Choose from Montserrat, Roboto, Playfair Display, Raleway, Bebas Neue, Oswald, Lato, or Pacifico.
- Size — Drag the size slider. 20–30px works for a subtle credit; 50px+ for a prominent brand mark.
- Opacity — Lower opacity (30–50%) makes the watermark less intrusive. Higher opacity (70–100%) is more visible and harder to crop out.
Step 6 — Preview and Export
The video preview shows a live overlay of how your watermark will look. When you're happy with the position and appearance, scroll to the Export section and click Export Video. The watermark will be baked into the exported file.
Watermark Tips
- Use your website URL as the watermark text — it doubles as free advertising.
- For subtle watermarks, try 40% opacity in a corner position.
- For DRM-style protection, use centre placement at 60–80% opacity.
- The Bebas Neue and Oswald fonts have a bold, editorial look great for brand watermarks.
- Pacifico adds a friendly, handwritten feel — good for lifestyle or personal content.
